Basic Needs
At UNCG, we realize the success of the UNCG Community relies on success inside and outside of the classroom. The Dean of Students Office has partnered with campus units and community agencies to connect Spartans to much needed support and resources. Safe and stable food and housing options are critical to the well-being of our students and therefore our community. Visit the links provided below for food and housing resources:

The Spartan Meal Swipes program aims to provide students who do not have safe and stable food options, and/or who are experiencing an emergency situation, access to healthy and well-balanced meals in our campus dining hall. Our Meal Swipe Program is a temporary emergency option for students while exploring more long term options for food. To be eligible, students must be currently enrolled at UNC Greensboro. If you meet this initial requirement and would like to complete a quick needs-based assessment to determine your eligibility for free meal swipes, please schedule an appointment with the Dean of Students Office by emailing [email protected] or by calling 336.334.5514.

How can I help?
Each year many new and returning Spartans are coming from families who are experiencing challenging economic times. This is presenting unique challenges for many of our Spartans that are trying to do well in school, “fit in,” and figure out what their future will look like.
While no one knows the exact number of homeless or hungry students on campus, the Dean of Students Office has provided assistance to many Spartans who are cash-strapped and or homeless. In some cases, these students were spending nights in places that are open around the clock, showering in gyms, sleeping in cars, or “couch surfing” with a succession of friends. Without support systems in place these students, many of whom prefer to remain hidden during hard times, are facing these challenges alone while struggling to provide for their own livelihood.
At UNCG, we want to do our part to support our homeless & hungry Spartans. Partners Assisting the Homeless & Hungry Spartan (PATHS) is one of several UNCG Cares initiatives whereby the Dean of Students Office has partnered with campus units and community agencies to connect homeless Spartans to much needed support and resources.

Checks can be mailed to Wesley-Luther, ACM Center at UNCG, 500 Stirling St., Greensboro NC 27402 or to Andrew Mails, ACM Center #206 through campus mail.
